Science with a mission, or an agenda? It’s hard to tell sometimes theses days. A recent Associated Press article ran with the headline Scant evidence that medical pot helps many illnesses. The lead author, Ryan Vandrey, is a Johns Hopkins University’s (JHU) Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, and why that’s a talking point will be explained. The AP story concerns, according to them, the first comprehensive analysis of research concerning medical marijuana (mm) and its potential benefits. The review evaluated 79 studies involving more than 6,000 patients, and concluded that mm was useful in alleviating “chronic pain and for muscle stiffness in multiple sclerosis”, and said evidence “was weak for many other conditions, including anxiety, sleep disorders, and Tourette’s syndrome and the authors recommend more research.”  This review of scientific study’s seems to be based on edibles, “47 brands of medical marijuana products, including candy, baked goods…
